Advanced Materials Technology - AMT / HALO PCS

HALO PCS

The HALO PCS series is the latest addition to the HALO product line. These new phases have a positively charged surface (PCS) to provide a better peak shape for basic compounds and are based on AMT's (Advanced Material Technology) fused-core technology. For this reason, the HALO PCS columns have a higher loading capacity and offers an alternative selectivity compared to other common phases for use with low ionic strength mobile phases. The HALO PCS phases are available wit a C18 or Phenyl-Hexyl modification in a particle size of 2.7µm in 90 and 160Å and with an inner diameter of 1.5, 2.1, 3.0 and 4.6mm.

Applications

  • Basic compounds
  • Improved peak shape and higher loadability compared to uncharged phases

Applications

HALO 90 Å PCS C18, 2.7µm, 4.6x50mm

Batch-to-batch comparison shows reproducibility and good peak shapes for basic, acidic and neutral compounds

Peak Identities

2. 2-Chlrobenzoic acid

3. 4-Methoxybenzoic acid

4. Imipramine

5. Dimethyl Phthalate

HALO 90 Å PCS C18, 2.7µm, 2.1x100mm

As shown in this basic drug screening with antidepressants, the HALO® Fused-Core® PCS technology tolerates a higher sample loading with basic substances compared to the competitor's fully porous C18 column. The positively charged surface (PCS) stationary phase is ideal for basic analytes when using low ionic strength mobile phases such as formic acid.

HALO 160 Å PCS C18, 2.7µm, 4.6x100mm

A HALO 160 Å PCS C18 column outperforms a conventional C18 column under formic acid conditions due to its positive charge surface which allows for improved peak shape and resolution for peptides. PCS C18 also allows for higher sample loading on the column for basic analytes and could potentially help pull apart tightly held impurities as seen below.
