Particle Technologies

Particle technology plays a central role in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), as it has a significant influence on separation performance and efficiency. In classic HPLC, completely porous particles are used, which offer a high capacity and resolution due to their large surface area.

Fused-core particles (or "core-shell particles"), on the other hand, consist of a solid core surrounded by a porous layer. This technology enables faster separations at lower back pressure and offers higher efficiency than conventional fully porous particles.

Monolithic columns are based on a continuous material without discrete particles. Their porous structure allows rapid flow and reduces pressure, which is particularly advantageous for highly viscous solvents or rapid analyses.
