Vitamins

Vitamins are organic compounds that are essential for vital processes and functions in the body. They are essential, i.e. they must be taken in with food and cannot be synthesised in sufficient quantities by the human body itself. A distinction is made between water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins. Water-soluble vitamins are mainly analysed by liquid chromatography using reversed-phase chromatography or hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC). Fat-soluble vitamins are often analysed using reversed-phase chrom atography or normal-phase chromatography.
