Porvair / Microlute

Microlute

Microlutes from Porvair are sample preparation products. Applications range from Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) to Phospholipid Removal (PLR), Supported Liquid Extraction (SLE) and Protein Precipitation (PP). For various applications, Microlute products are available either in a standard cartridge format or packed in well plates.

Microlute CSi is the latest addition to the Microlute product range. This new composite technology combines a chromatographically active material with inert polyethylene. This immobilises the material in the pores of the frit. This means that there is no loose material in the cartridge or well plates, which increases reproducibility.

Technical Data

What are the advantages of Microlute CSi?

The chromatographically active material is already embedded during the production of the polyethylene frit. This process ensures that the materials are embedded in the frit. The resulting robust and reproducible structure allows a constant flow and enables uniform sample preparation.

  • robust design with a single frit allows constant flow and uniform sample preparation
  • reproducible bed in each individual well increases the accuracy of the analysis
  • chromatographic material is evenly distributed throughout the frit, preventing channelling or voids in the material

When will you benefit from Microlute CSi?

Microlute CSi eliminates known defects in SPE products that are packed with loose materials. As the material is embedded in a frit, defects are reduced and reproducibility is increased.

  • No gap formation (voiding)
  • No channeling
  • More uniform chromatographic bed
  • No compression of material

How does Microlute CSi perform compared to standard SPE products?

Due to the uniform packing bed within the frit, the recovery rates are comparable to loosely packed materials. However, the deviation is significantly higher with loosely packed material compared to Microlute CSi.
