Monographs

Pharmacopoeias are official collections of recognised standards and regulations for the manufacture, quality assurance and testing of medicinal products. With regard to chromatography, they play a central role as they contain detailed specifications for analytical methods such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), which are used to check the purity, identity and concentration of pharmaceutical substances. By defining standardised chromatographic procedures, pharmacopoeias help to ensure the quality and consistency of medicinal products and are therefore an important instrument for regulatory monitoring and the pharmaceutical industry.
