TLC Plates
Thinlayer chromatography (TLC) plates are an essential tool in analytical laboratories for the separation of chemical substances. They consist of a solid phase, usually silica gel or aluminium oxide, which is applied to a stable carrier material such as glass, plastic or aluminium foil. DC plates allow mixtures to be analysed quickly and efficiently by applying the sample to the bottom of the plate and developing it in a suitable mobile phase. This method is often used for purity testing, identification and quantification of compounds.
