Sample Loops
Sample loops are an essential element in chromatography and play a crucial role in the accurate dosing and introduction of samples into the chromatographic system. Sample loops are available in different sizes and materials to meet different requirements. The size of the sample loop determines the volume of sample introduced into the chromatographic system and typically ranges from a few microlitres to several millilitres. The choice of the correct loop size depends on the specific application and the requirements of the analysis.
The materials from which sample loops are made are also critical. Stainless steel, PEEK (polyether ether ketone) and other chemically resistant materials are often used to ensure that the loops are inert to the solvents and samples used. This prevents unwanted interactions and contamination that could affect the accuracy of the analysis.
