Why should you use the SUGAR columns for analysing saccharides?

SUGAR SC1011, 1821, SP0810, KS-801/802

  • Only water is required for analysing neutral sugars
  • Available with the metal ions Ca2+, Pb2+ or Na+

 

SUGAR KS-803 to 807

  • Only water is required for analysing neutral sugars
  • Separation of sugars by size exclusion chromatography (SEC)

 

SUGAR DC-613

  • Sugar analyses are possible without removing sodium ions from the sample
  • Separation using ligand exchange chromatography and HILIC

SUGAR SZ5532

  • For the analyses of disaccharides and trisaccharides
  • Separation by ligand exchange chromatography and HILIC

 

SUGAR SC1211

  • For the analyses of sugar alcohols
  • Separation by ligand exchange chromatography and HILIC

  • For the simultaneous determination of sugars and organic acids

Chemistry and mechanism of separation of SUGAR columns

SUGAR columns are based on hard styrene divinylbenzene copolymer and a strong anion exchange resin containing sulfo functional groups with metal ions. The metal ions interact with hydroxyl groups of the saccharides. Due to the steric differences of the saccharides, either more or fewer hydroxyl groups form a complex with the metal ion. This results in a stronger or weaker ligand exchange potential and a different sugar separation.
