Cogent

Cogent HPLC Column™ from the US manufacturer Microsolv™ Tech. Corp. based on the unique silica hydride technology. The stationary phase is formed from a high purity Type B silica backbone, which is modified to cover the silica surface with silicon-hydride (Si-H) bonds, thus replacing >95% of surface silanols (Si-OH). As a result, Cogent Type-C™ particles have only a weakly associated water shell. Using patented technology, various bonded phases are produced from the unique silica hydride surface with direct silicon-carbon bonds. These extremely strong non-polar bonds offer increased stability over traditional silica based phases.

Cogent HPLC columns™ can be used in three different modes of HPLC: (1.) Classic reversed-phase (RP), (2.) Normal-phase with non-polar solvents, such as hexane, and (3.) Normal-phase with aqueous eluents (ANP). Further advantages of these phases are fast equilibration between gradient runs, unique retention and selectivity properties, and excellent suitability for LC-MS.
